Logisch dus dat je ook met de zones waar het licht níet komt een interessante draai aan je foto’s kunt geven. Zodra een object door een lichtbron wordt verlicht, bevindt zich erachter immers gegarandeerd een schaduw. Simpelweg omdat daar geen of in ieder geval veel minder rechtstreeks zonlicht of lamplicht valt. Het contrast tussen licht en schaduw levert vaak een bijzonder boeiend beeld op.
